I'm a Stella & Dot Stylist - Eeeeeeek!

June 13, 2013

Honestly, I can say I've stalked Stella & Dot for a few years. Yep, stalked. I'm a stalker and I don't feel the least bit creepy :) I was first introduced to the company coincidentally through the blogging world. I was HUGE into giveaways and reviews (which I still love) and saw this awesome jewelry popping up all over the place. I visited their website, requested a Look book and got in touch with a stylist. Talk about blown away, I was hooked ever since!

I've sold through many direct sales companies. MANY, really too many and know an awesome opportunity when I see one. But was it a good opportunity for me? At that time I didn't think so. I didn't last longer than a year in those said companies. In 2011 was trying to focus on my blog, I was volunteering at church several times a week, we'd just bought our first home and I was due to have my 4th baby. I was swamped with duties and I couldn't feasibly add another one.

Fast forward to the present and little has changed with what's on my plate. I'm now homeschooling 4 kiddos, we have an 8mo baby boy, hubby has launched his photog biz with Real Xpressions Photography, the house we bought is still nowhere near home,y and we have one car that can not hold the entire family (there are seven of us). Back then doesn't seem so busy anymore.

So why now, life is even crazier! I believe maybe then wasn't a great time for me but what if I'd made that jump anyways, where would I be now? I think God has a plan for my life, he's set me up on many platforms to speak to the masses, now is a godly time. I now believe in myself which hasn't been the case for the majority of my life. God has been working on me a great deal and this is a tool I'll use to reach women, moms, daughters regardless if they shop, host, or join. I am a light and this is simply one of my many rays :) Wish me luck, send me prayers, and watch what God can do.

I've started a styling blog over at Haute Dot even though the details aren't even official. I plan to join up  in either June or July hoping the sooner the better :)

WAHM USA Diaper Event

July 1, 2010

A big thanks to Audrey at 3am Cloth Diapers for letting me participate in this awesome one of a kind event! I haven't seen any events out featuring WAHMs making cloth diapers. Granted I am new to the cloth and blog world. I've been doing both for a little over a month. There are some really great cloth diapers out there and I think the wahmies get very little attention. Here's to the spotlight!!!!

Audrey wanted me to share a bit about why I love WAHM and why I want to be one. I first shared my cloth diaper story here. When I started using cloth the idea of not having to buy diapers every month was so exciting. I already do laundry everyday (well I'm supposed to), I've been making my own laundry detergent for a few months so we're not out anything but a little bit of work. Cloth is amazing! Cloth is so cute! Cloth is crazy expensive!

OMGoodness, I couldn't believe how different the costs were compared to sposies (look at me using silly terms, sposies=disposables). We alloted $40, because that is what we'd normally spend on diapers in a month, and set out to buy some cloth. Fortunately I had a friend who gave me a really great deal on some indian prefolds and bumbenius 3.0s. I've grown a little since but really feel the need to get more, more, MORE.

JitterBum was born. I know zilch about sewing, I got a sewing machine for Christmas from my in-laws when Mr. Dreamy and I first got married with dreams of making my daughters easter dresses and quilts. I have used it once (that was almost 10 years ago).At this moment spending $20 or more on one diapers, no matter how awesome it is, is not feasible. Not gonna happen! My aunt made this diaper and I love it, I'm just sad that we only have one.

I've got my pattern, my dream, and some determination to make JitterBum work. If it only serves to help my family and close friends so be it. I don't have any notions this thing will turn into a multi-million dollar company but it'll be worth as much for me knowing I won't ever run out of diapers or resources to give my babies what they deserve.

Working from Home

June 14, 2010

If you are an @home-mom like me all I can think about is how can I help my family survive. Yes all the day to day sometimes mundane activities are all necessary and important but something financial needs to be done so I can bring daddy home. I've met several families where both mom and dad stay home. What a blessing that would be for our family. Currently my husband works from late afternoon until midnight some evenings, when he gets home he is exhausted and rarely gets to see us and the kids until the weekends. Words can not express the grattitude that we are able to have just one income but its becoming clear that 2 incomes are very important in most modern day families.

What are my options?
Getting a job outside the home would actually cost us more money. I did that once but it had to be a job where I could take my kids with me and any job with that lovely addage isn't going to have the added zeros I'm really looking for at paycheck time.

Really the only feasible option here is to work from home. I've tried the home party businesses, sold makeup, jewelry, financial plans, vitamins, and more vitamins. I had to try all of those to figure out I was not a sales person. I met some really determined people that way and bought the dream they were also selling along with their products. The dream was BIG but I could never get there, it wasn't for me.

Nick and I have some things in the works and so I'll be sharing with you how we will get there in order to encourage you to do the same if its your dream.
