So What Are They?

These Would've Taken P.E. Up To Another Level
I grew up with calisthenics, a form of exercise that consists of a variety of gross motor movements, often rhythmical, generally without using equipment or apparatus. That's the technical definition. Basically I played high school level basketball and ran track and we did the basics such as high knees, run in place, run up the bleachers, step-ups (just the mention of some of these make me shudder to remember summer camps). But I really did enjoy that stuff and loved making my body work and perform because I was such a physical kid. One of my gifts revolves around strength, agility, and speed. For goodness sake, I moved a piano 8months pregnant!


Other Products
I can see the Lebert Equalizer being utilized today in high school gyms or for any sports program for that matter because they just take all that I mentioned above up to another level. Much safer then the stretchy bungee systems we used. They do have a much safer buddy system here that looks really cool as well as other systems and tools.

As a personal trainer, something I strongly have considered again and again, these would be a great tool to use with clients as they really are

Here's What I Really Think: My approach to my weight has changed since reading Gary Taubes' book Why We Get Fat and though I love exercising I've just not come up with a plan to execute my goals. I know when I'm ready I'll follow Chalene Johnson's Tabata, and the many other tutorials utilizing my awesome Equalizers because they line up with my belief that all you need is you and maybe simple tools to make a better you. These are simple to use, store, and weigh just enough to aid a strength workout.

I'm coming to terms with the idea that my body was what it was before babies and it is what is is now, there's a major disconnect between what I think I may want and what I can get. I want strength. I watch dudes like Frank (below) who make body-weight strength training look like an art and am so inspired and moved to do something.

Watching his review on youtube is what pushed me into contacting LebertFitness.com and I'm so glad I did and that their wonderful team chose to work with me. It's been a true honor plus this product is amazing!

My kids thought I brought home a kid's play gym so they've had to stay in my room so they don't get destroyed. We tried pull ups, push ups, baby-weighted pull ups were tricky but I felt pretty bad ass being 9mos post-partum with baby #6 to even attempt it.


I have taken quite the hiatus in between posts lately but also from my little blog baby and for that I'm saddened but what it also means in a more positive light is that I'm learning to devote time and effort to my family. There was a time that I'm not too proud to admit where it was all about my blog or facebook and social media because 'mommy needed a break' from real life every now and then. I had it backwards. I'd love to be able to handle and be devoted to both one day because I love the platform I've created here for myself and love sharing reviews, tips, and tricks to help others.

Norwex Party Review - Getting Organized

As a family, my husband and I are starting to realize the benefits to eatting clean. We're slowly eliminating toxic foods such as pasturized corn fed milk, hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup from our diets and our house. But What about those other chemicals and toxins found under the sink and in the laundry room?

So we've been making our own homemade laundry soap for over a year but somehow things like comet, pinesol, and various window cleaners keep making their way to my home. I'm not blaming anyone because I secretly love their smells. It's nostalgia. Which got me thinking, why do we need to smell a clean house? Shouldn't the absence of odors be enough?

It's funny how you fall in love with smells! Tide and Downy smell so good but not as good as it feels knowing I'm foregoing the nasty chemicals in them.

Get the kids involved.
I know how easy it is to mix the wrong combination of cleaning products and almost pass out. I don't want to pass that torch down to my kids making safer more simpler cleaning products is a must.

Children Friendly Cleaning Products
I've pinned quite a few DIY natural cleaning recipes so of course now I'm an expert. The base seems to always be vinegar which we now own a ton of. I will continue to use it but also heard about a company called NORWEX that really intrigued me. I can simply use their microfiber towel and water to clean!!

I had met a gal at jewelry party a year ago and she was telling me about Norwex. I'll let her chime in now...

I was introduced to Norwex about a year ago by my grandmother--who I consider the "Queen of Clean". My grandma had a Norwex party and was so thrilled with their products! I bought the household package (an Enviro cloth, Polishing cloth, and Dusting Mitt) to support my grandma in getting her some great hostess rewards! When I received the products, I put them away with the rest of my cleaning supplies, and didn't even try them for awhile. One day I needed to get the house clean, and in a hurry. Normally I would have needed a spray for the mirror, a different chemical for the sink, another chemical for the toilet, and yet another for the bathtub/shower. In the past, I would often need to turn the fan on and leave the bathroom in the midst of cleaning because of the chemical smells! With Norwex, I was able to clean the entire bathroom using only water and finish in record time! I was so excited that I became a consultant so that I could pass on this wonderful product to others!

How it Works:
The microfiber technology that Norwex has engineered includes fibers that are 1/200th the size of a human hair. This means that the fibers are able to pick up virtually everything on the surface without cross-contaminating onto other surfaces. Cotton cloths merely push dust particles and dirt around, while the Enviro cloth picks everything up and holds it securely in the cloth. After using the cloth, it should be rinsed well in warm water and hung to dry. Within 24 hours the microsilver agent in the cloth has gone to work and choked out all bacteria, making it ready to use again!

Let's talk about the fit.
I have short hair currently but love the fashion statement these bands make. They can be worn skinny or thick because of the design and work even on my hair type which is natural. Think swimsuit material and you'll have an idea of what it feels like. Because these are meant to rest on your forehead (which creates a bolder look that I like) they do not budge.

The first time I wore my band was on a homeschool splash pad adventure with my 5 kiddos. It was hot, I was sweaty and there was a lot or running around with my younger 3. I should say they ran whereas I waddled, but I never lost my head band.

God Approved WOrkMAN!

After getting out of the habit of reading my bible first thing in the morning these past few months I did what all normal people do and blasted myself on Facebook. You know, because that motivates you. In my case, sometimes. This morning after getting up with the baby like I normally do I played one full round of Candy Crush Saga on my phone (because candy can't crush itself) and drained my battery. After locating my phone charger  I sat down to read my bible on YouVersion (love that app). I realized how high a priority I've placed a game over God, and not just lately but quite frequently, intermittently. The featured verse spoke directly to me.

'Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.' 2 Tim 2:15 AMP

Yesterday, while trying on clothes on a much needed mommy's night out ALONE, I didn't get depressed. I used to. I didn't stare myself down in the mirror disappointed in what I saw. I normally am. I'm conquering my weight, body image, and self esteem issues and this verse explains how. I have to look to God, know His will, study His word. I'm not pleased with where I am physically/mentally but, I'm doing something to change it with His help.

ChristyHomeMom in Heelys (video) 2011 HomeMomGiftGuide

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Heelys? Kids, Teens, skates, FALLING. I was given a unique opportunity to review a pair of Heelys of my choice. I chose these cuties you see just below, so right of the bat I'm stepping out of my comfort zone. Growing up I tried to be as non girly as possible. But now that I'm older and a mom of 2 girls I've started to embrace more pink.

I received these Heelys, 2 heel caps to use when not heeling, 2 wheels, a heelys removal tool, and a how to guide.

I love how stylish these shoes are.
I can wear them, without the wheels, with just about any outfit. They are comfortable but a bit too bulky for my taste. However I do like the extra 2inches in height they give me with The Hubs (he's six inches taller than me).

I also love how fun heeling, skating in heelys, looks. I've not mastered it yet as you can tell from the video below. I think it would be a great family activity.
