Norwex Party Review - Getting Organized

July 23, 2014

As a family, my husband and I are starting to realize the benefits to eatting clean. We're slowly eliminating toxic foods such as pasturized corn fed milk, hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup from our diets and our house. But What about those other chemicals and toxins found under the sink and in the laundry room?

So we've been making our own homemade laundry soap for over a year but somehow things like comet, pinesol, and various window cleaners keep making their way to my home. I'm not blaming anyone because I secretly love their smells. It's nostalgia. Which got me thinking, why do we need to smell a clean house? Shouldn't the absence of odors be enough?

It's funny how you fall in love with smells! Tide and Downy smell so good but not as good as it feels knowing I'm foregoing the nasty chemicals in them.

Get the kids involved.
I know how easy it is to mix the wrong combination of cleaning products and almost pass out. I don't want to pass that torch down to my kids making safer more simpler cleaning products is a must.

Children Friendly Cleaning Products
I've pinned quite a few DIY natural cleaning recipes so of course now I'm an expert. The base seems to always be vinegar which we now own a ton of. I will continue to use it but also heard about a company called NORWEX that really intrigued me. I can simply use their microfiber towel and water to clean!!

I had met a gal at jewelry party a year ago and she was telling me about Norwex. I'll let her chime in now...

My name is Krystal Lee and I am an Independent Consultant for Norwex.

If you have never heard of Norwex, their mission statement describes the company in a nutshell:

To radically reduce the use of chemicals in cleaning and personal care products.

I was introduced to Norwex about a year ago by my grandmother--who I consider the "Queen of Clean". My grandma had a Norwex party and was so thrilled with their products! I bought the household package (an Enviro cloth, Polishing cloth, and Dusting Mitt) to support my grandma in getting her some great hostess rewards! When I received the products, I put them away with the rest of my cleaning supplies, and didn't even try them for awhile. One day I needed to get the house clean, and in a hurry. I grabbed the Enviro cloth and Polishing cloth to get started on the bathroom. I was so floored at how easy it was to clean with these cloths, and with only water! I used little effort on the sink, then cleaned the mirror. After using the polishing cloth, I was amazed at the streak-free shine! I decided to tackle the bath tub, and again was just astonished. I used little elbow grease and I could literally feel the difference on the surface of my tub and shower walls! I hadn't planned on using this cloth on the toilet, but couldn't resist after these results! I spent half the time cleaning my bathroom than I would have using my other household cleaning products. Normally I would have needed a spray for the mirror, a different chemical for the sink, another chemical for the toilet, and yet another for the bathtub/shower. In the past, I would often need to turn the fan on and leave the bathroom in the midst of cleaning because of the chemical smells! With Norwex, I was able to clean the entire bathroom using only water and finish in record time! I was so excited that I became a consultant so that I could pass on this wonderful product to others!

Watch these NORWEX Demonstrations

How it Works:
The microfiber technology that Norwex has engineered includes fibers that are 1/200th the size of a human hair. This means that the fibers are able to pick up virtually everything on the surface without cross-contaminating onto other surfaces. Cotton cloths merely push dust particles and dirt around, while the Enviro cloth picks everything up and holds it securely in the cloth. After using the cloth, it should be rinsed well in warm water and hung to dry. Within 24 hours the microsilver agent in the cloth has gone to work and choked out all bacteria, making it ready to use again!

Less is MORE!
1. Dramatically reduces the use of harsh chemicals in my home, saving my family's health!

2. Less time cleaning, leaving more time for what matters most!

3. Less effort--I can clean 90% of my home with an enviro cloth and water!

4. Less laundering--Norwex's antibacterial cloths use microsilver to self-sanitize the cloths after every use!

5. Safe for my family--no more need to lock-up the chemicals!

6. Less money spent on cleaning supplies--a 2-year warranty is guaranteed on Norwex microfiber products!
- Krystal Lee

So cool!
How awesome will that be when all I need is a cloth and water to deep clean my home? How safe this is for kids if they happen to get a hold of the rag? Regarless of the mess I'll feel good that the germs are gone when my babies are laying and playing on the floor.

To get started I'd love just the basic kit which includes the enviro cloth and window cloth. I would love the mop and brush as well. That's why I'm sharing this party online with you all.

BeBolder: CHM + Fitness & Bolder Band Headband Giveaway

July 16, 2014

Working with the folks over at BolderBand, I get to bring you all a fitness review and giveaway. I'm super excited too because I've heard and seen their bands on other blogs and love how BOLD they are. I have the Aztec!

I've been documenting my fitness journey for several years, but have recently decided to take it up a notch and offer a few giveaways to celebrate the launch of CHM + Fitness here on the blog and a new facebook fan page!

Be Bolder!
If you know me you'll soon find that I'm a lover of graphics and branding. Besides the amazing print I chose, I love BolderBand's message and website address, BBolder.com. This is something I'm learning to embrace in my own life as a daughter, wife, and mother.

At the head of this company you'll find a mom of 3...
"I am a cross fitting/running mom of three amazing kids and married to a stud of a man! I really enjoy working out but could never seem to find the right thing to hold my hair back.  Every name-brand elastic head band would pop off my head in the middle of my workouts. I got fed up with the interruption of losing my headband every third burpee and decided there had to be a better alternative."
Amy Crouse,
Founder and creator of Bolder Band

Let's talk about the fit.
I have short hair currently but love the fashion statement these bands make. They can be worn skinny or thick because of the design and work even on my hair type which is natural. Think swimsuit material and you'll have an idea of what it feels like. Because these are meant to rest on your forehead (which creates a bolder look that I like) they do not budge.

The first time I wore my band was on a homeschool splash pad adventure with my 5 kiddos. It was hot, I was sweaty and there was a lot or running around with my younger 3. I should say they ran whereas I waddled, but I never lost my head band.

Size and Wear.
Sizes ranging from XS  all the way up to Custom Lrg (and bro bands for men).

Cute, right?!

Want your own? I get to give one of my BOLD followers a Bolder Band of their own...
Fill in the blank and comment below: "I'm BOLD because _________"

August 18, 2012

**Baby Update** we're just 6wks away from baby#5 and from the way I've been acting you'd think this was my first, we're so excited!!!

Who loves Carmex? They definitely aren't your mom's trusted tub anymore, they're so much more with flavors like cherry, strawberry, vanilla, lime twist, and the NEW Pomegranate. Being apart of their Carmex Blog Squad I received a super cute beach tote filled with all of the flavors above.

Their newest flavor comes in a sweet and tart pomegranate. I really do like it as this is currently my favorite fruit. Especially for the summer in a sorbet or tart fruit smoothie. You really can't go wrong here.

As much as I love Carmex I absolutely consider it a privilege to get cool gear like this tote, and this picnic blanket. Ill be covered for all seasons if I can score a bright yellow umbrella. Wishful thinking :)

Want a tote kit of your own? One lucky Home-Mom fan on Facebook will win one exactly like mine. Head on over and like us and share the picture already posted on my wall.

I received product from Carmex Labs., Inc in exchange for my honest opinion.. All comments/ideas/opinions posts here are my own.

A Reusable bag to Remember Bagnetic *Giveaway

November 14, 2011

I'd like to introduce you to a new reusable bag! I promised I'd start focusing my reviews on services and products that directly deal with the Mom at Home. This product comes form a company who found a solution to the problems that most Shoppers (mostly made up of Moms) face with their reusable grocery bags.

With everyone going Green there has been a rise in reusables. Stores offer their own bags but they tend to be cheaply made. Sure they have more than one use but can they stand the test of time? Bagnetic is a fairly new company founded in 2009 founded by Ryan BautistaBagnetic bags are made of

Ryan noticed that, like most of us who've shopped and used plastic bags, the litter from plastic bags is an issue that can't be denied. We like reusable bags because they are an environmental and economical choice. However if you're like me who's purchased the totes, I've used just as much plastic since making the switch because the totes are sometimes too big or bulky to fit in my purse so I usually end up forgetting them at home.

Watch How Bagnetic® Bags Work.

The Mom Behind Her Home:
JulieBGreen's Plush Pals Review

September 21, 2011

My littlest man loves his new toy. This is Jake (formerly known as Jack). Hes soft, cuddly, and likes long jumps by the pond. You'd think he'd like to eat flies, but instead he enjoys fruit smoothies with spinach. No seriously they are GOOD.

Beginning with this review I'd like to share more than just about the great products I purchase or receive but more about the moms behind their homes. Moms who see a need and fill it financially in their own lives or want to be a solution to problems they see in the world around us.

The Mom behind her Home...

My PhotoJulie is a stay at home mom to four children from Oklahoma (just like me and a fellow Okie!!!) She pretty much runs the show. I have a lot to learn from Julie as I aspire to make and sell from home with momMADE.
I love that most of her buttons she uses on her creations come from her Grandmother. What a treasure! Everything Julie makes to sell comes from her heart. Her work is an expression of who she is and it really does show in her craftsmanship.

Her Etsy store, opened March 2010, is where you'll find 6 of her super cute Plush Pals. She is very customer care savvy offering FREE gift wrapping, fan giveaways, and custom orders. Find her on facebook where very soon a lucky fan can win a custom frog.

Jake is super soft with fleece eyes, a must, as he's my youngest son's new crib mate. It's hard to believe he is now 10mos old! The eyes were of some concern as he's cutting 4 new teeth for a total of 6. I've tugged on the eyes and they aren't going anywhere. Plus if he did some how get them off (it's possible) the soft fleece would be more pleasant for him then hard buttons.

I think placing toys like this in his crib is a great way to introduce routine. His association with his crib and nap are both familiar and fun. When he wakes up he has old Jake here to keep him company until mommy can come and get him.

The Giveaway! Attn**Click READ MORE to Enter this Giveaway .)
Using Rafflecopter.com to host giveaways has been a tremendous help. It's fast, easy, and picks winners using random.org. Julie is offering one lucky Home-Mom Reader/Follower/Fan their choice of a plush pal valued at $18 USD or less. Increase your chances of winning, help spread the word .)

Carmex: New Vanilla & Lime Twist
*Giveaway Closed

September 12, 2011

As a member of Carmex's Blog Squad, a blogger outreach group. I was given all that you see below! Pretty neat huh? What wasn't so neat was the state I found my new goodies in once I opened the package. With heat temperatures reaching as high as 115°F this summer my new purse buddies just couldn't keep their cool.

My Kit Included:

Carmex Moisture Plus™ Clear lip balm  - 1 Carmex Vanilla Stick - 1 Carmex Lime Twist Stick  - 1 Travel Picnic blanket

This blanket is really cool! It rolls up into itself and has a zippered pocket.
The underside is waterproof  too!! And that's Miss Foxy curled up asleep.

I blogged at the start of the year about the new Moisture Plus line here, but now I'm so glad to have a clear version of the lip balm. Now available in Sheer Peach, Sheer Pink, NEW Sheer Plum and NEW Sheer Berry!

Both the Vanilla and Lime flavors are subtle in smell and have no taste to me. There still is the signature Carmex smell to all the lip balms and lotions even.

Buy it!
Visit Carmex's store locator for retailers. Note: Not all products are carried at all stores. The Healing lotions are physically only sold at Walgreens but also sold online at  Walgreens.com and drugstore.com.

My Giveaway is closed. Phoeey .(
But Carmex is hosting their own giveaway on their fan page for a set of Carmex Healing Lotion and Cream.

The products mentioned in this review were provided by Carmex for the purpose of this review and all opinions are 100% mine. This Giveaway is open to residents of the US only and sponsored by Carmex Ends September 14th at 12:01pm, EST. A winner will be chosen via random.org. The winner will have 24hrs to contact me before a new winner will be chosen.

Rethink Reusables - Feminine Products

August 3, 2011

Yes it's possible, and comfortable. We use cloth for our babies why not for mom too? Everyone should rethink what they are putting into their bodies. All personal hygiene items are usually used daily but have some of the most lethal ingredients or materials. Toothpaste (fluoride), deodorant (aluminum), shampoos and soaps (laurel sulphate), etc... I'm always on the lookout for products to help steer clear of these things.

I remember the first time I saw a product called Instead on the shelf at good old Wal-mart. It claimed I didn't have to change my pad or tampon but just 2 times a day, that's 12 hr protection. But how do you remove it? I know, I know...
your first thought is Ewwwwww!

Instead now just called Softcup
But the product emptied itself with every potty break (you know you're a mommy when you say POTTY). The only problem with Instead was they were one time use per cup. Either me or The Hubs were still running to the store every four weeks. I have enough things to worry about then that sort of panic. Cloth diapers, Mama Cloth/Cloth Pads and reusable cups eliminate that sort of stress. Not only that, why throw away money?

Breaking Down Cost:
Tampons on average cost $10 a month. In one year you'd have spent $120 for tampons alone.
Pads on average cost $5 a box. In one year you'd have spent $60 for pads alone.
(35 years is a woman's average life cycle and those numbers)

Reusable Pads... This past April I received 2 pads from Moms Crafts 4U on Etsy. I really didn't know what to think. Her blog does a great job answering why you should use cloth and what materials she uses. Conventional pads have to be changed every 1-2 hours. Not the case with this pad...

It was crazy neat how much liquid this thing could hold. But they stay dry. No wet yucky feeling, and I mean all day, this thing is AMAZING!

The Hubs heard all about it. This was probably the first time I'd ever been excited about my period coming. I'd heard so many other moms praise mama cloth. Now I know why.

So, how do you clean these?
It's simple and easy. You clean them the same way you'd wash your delicates or potty training clothes. I rinse mine with cold water and then throw in the washer with my regular clothes (cold water recommended). Rinsing or soaking these is the real test of how much this pad can hold but not necessary. Then just throw in the dryer. Moms Crafts 4U offers starter kits that will include everything you need to... well get started .)

What if pads aren't your thing? As soon as I could wear tampons I never looked back (until kids). I was a sports girl, pads and running never mixed well.

The very first thing besides the anxiety of learning how to wear a tampon that I remember is reading about toxic shock syndrome or TSS. Tampax defines it is here but basically it's a bacteria strain that our bodies usually fight off but can cause death and has been linked to tampon use. Doesn't that scare you just a bit? It scared me way back when and I thought of it every time I opened up a new box of tampons from the store. I just thought that was a risk I had to take.

I don't and will not ever again. A few months ago I also received a Miacup. They promise to
help save the planet, save my wallet, and save my life
(okay that was a bit dramatic) but you get the point. If you google reusable menstrual cups several options will come up but they all pretty much resemble this shape and concept.

They hold the liquid instead of drying out your inner walls like tampons which can lead to ulcers, irritations, and lesions. They don't leave fibers or chemicals behind. It's easy to insert plus Miacup has done an amazing job with videos and pictures to help take away the confusion. Just like tampons you hardly know it's there.

Both products do not interfere with the natural cleansing process of your body. Nor do they introduce harmful chemicals into your body. I know there is no possible way to eliminate every single harmful chemical in today's world, but it's the little things that make big differences.

I'm curious to know how many of you already knew about these types of products.
After reading this post are you willing to rethink reusable feminine products?

Welcome to a New Generation of
Oral Care Treatment *Giveaway

June 24, 2011

Oral care is so important. This coming from a mom of 4 with some serious dental issues. Not only has multiple pregnancies decreased the calcium in my body, but also lack of time for my own oral hygiene and far too few trips to the dentist in the past ten years. I also just learned that wearing braces back in the day has caused me some issues as well. Great! Fifteen years later I have straight teeth riddled with decay.
We got a rude awakening with PrincessT's visit this last December. She had not just one but several cavaties. Nothing feels worse than basically getting an F for your child's oral care. I love TheraBreath's Oral Rinse, it's safe for my kids to use and they aren't in any danger of ingesting harmful chemicals. Plus my dentist does know about TheraBreath .)

The folks at TheraBreath contacted me about trying their brand new Multi Symptom Probiotic system. I shared the cause of bad breath back in this post. Quite frankly there are tons of products out there that can cover up or take away symptoms such as bad breath, but they're not fixing the problem(s). This is my main concern with Western Medicine in general which I will tackle in more detail later but soon. Take a cold for example. Modern (western) medicine will have you treat the runny nose, taking away symtoms but doing nothing for the cold. That cold is your body's way of communicating with you. Our bodies are truly magnificent machines that can heal themselves when properly taken care of. The catch is the care. I really like TheraBreath because they line up with this philosophy. Helping your body produce saliva gets rid of bad breath. What about Cavities, Plaque, Sensitive Teeth (I've got several), and even Ear Aches? Your body is a fighting machine that wants to protect itself given the right tools.

Introducing TheraBreath's Multi Symptom Probiotics!

"Our multi-symptom probiotic is the only product developed to actively attack the bacteria that is responsible for tooth decay, cavities, acid erosion, bleeding and sensitive gums, plaque, tooth staining, and other germ-related oral care maladies. It actively attacks hostile germs and keeps them from being able to affect your teeth, throat, and mouth. Unlike repurposed gut probiotics, our patented 'bugs' were developed specifically for colonizing the tongue, mouth, and throat."

Wow, an all natural treatment that can help my body help itself. I got to use this 7-day home treatment system. First off I'm terrible with routines so this was a challenge for me. The first day I took 2 sticks in the morning and evening, for days 2-6 I took just one stick in the morning, then on day 7 I took 2 sticks in the morning and evening. It was really pleasant tasting. The texture reminded me of those packets you add to your water to make juice except you don't drink this. The sticks have both M18 & K12 cultures freeze dried inside that are activated by water. You mix the contents of the stick with some water and gargle it a few times. Giving your body the right tools it needs to fight most oral issues, and proven successful in scientific studies.

More about these cultures (S. salivarius K12 and M18), the first probiotic strains to be developed specifically for the oral cavity from beneficial bacteria that already naturally occurs in the oral cavity of a small percentage of children. This handful of children showed a natural resistance to the variety of oral cavity related illnesses listed above. What mom doesn't want their kids to have healthy teeth. I know a lot of moms that are constantly battling sinus issues, sore throats, and cavities (now me included). You can purchase the Multi Symptom Probiotic system now available for the first time in the United States exclusively from TheraBreath.
