Day Seven: "Do not overwork to be rich; because of your own understanding, cease!
...for riches certainly make themselves wings..." Prov. 23:4-5
"That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries." Proverbs 8:21
Both my husband and I have different backgrounds when it comes to money, he had very little of it at times growing up, I did too but had spurts of splurges that made you forget you had less. I think we both come from a poor mentality background that affects us more than actually being poor. Not having enough only lasts for a time but thinking you'll never have enough is a mindset.
I've made the mistake in thinking that if I could handle all the finances then we'd have little to no issues, then to find out some of the biggest issues arise when I'm in charge. My husband is great at setting budgets. Early on in our marriage we blew away money because we could, we spent what we had and made more. When children started to become part of the picture we saw how unwise that was for our family. Our legacy called for more.
With the purchase of our first house we see how blessed we are and also see how still very dependent on our God we are. After each major blessing has come an equal if not bigger trial. It's hard for me not to collapse and wonder where God is but he's shown up every time in this short nine months. I purpose to praise my husband on his ability to make and manage money.
